EmpowerHER: Rights, Protection and Hope
EmpowerHER is Our Sansar’s programme supporting girls and young women who have experienced gender-based violence, are at risk of child marriage or face barriers that prevent them from living safe, independent lives.
We believe every girl should have the opportunity to grow up free from violence, continue her education and build a future filled with hope and opportunity. Through protection, prevention and long-term support, we’re working alongside girls, families and communities to make that possible.
More Than Crisis Response
Protecting girls means far more than responding to emergencies.
EmpowerHER combines immediate protection with long-term prevention, education and community engagement. From providing a safe place to recover to preventing child marriage and changing attitudes within communities, every part of the programme is designed to address both the immediate risks girls face and the underlying causes that place them in danger.
Our Three Pillars
Working Together
EmpowerHER doesn’t work in isolation.
Our outreach team works closely with schools, health workers, local authorities, police, social workers and community groups across Madhesh Pradesh, ensuring girls can access the right support before a crisis escalates. By connecting protection, education and prevention, we’re creating a coordinated response that helps girls not only recover from violence, but avoid it altogether.
Creating Lasting Change
Every girl who stays at school
Every family that chooses education over child marriage
Every community that begins to challenge harmful traditions
Together, these moments create lasting change.
EmpowerHER isn’t only about protecting girls today—it’s about ensuring the next generation of girls grow up with greater safety, opportunity and choice.
