Volunteering in Nepal
At Our Sansar, volunteering is about working alongside our Nepal team, sharing knowledge and strengthening the work already taking place within local communities. Whether you’re teaching, mentoring, training staff or offering professional expertise, your contribution should continue to create opportunities long after your placement has ended.
Our volunteers have shared their expertise in many different ways. They’ve carried out health checks for our children, trained staff in first aid, developed training materials, supported fundraising, taught yoga, music, art and languages, and strengthened our programmes behind the scenes. Many of our volunteers remain part of the Our Sansar family long after returning home, continuing to support our work and keeping in touch with the children and staff they met along the way.
The safety and wellbeing of children is our highest priority. All volunteers are expected to follow Our Sansar’s Child Protection Policy and safeguarding procedures throughout their placement.
Volunteer from Anywhere
You don’t have to travel to Nepal to make an impact. Many of our volunteers support Our Sansar from anywhere in the world through fundraising, communications, graphic design, research, mentoring and strategic advice.
Why Volunteer With Us?
We believe the most meaningful volunteering happens when people share knowledge, build lasting relationships and strengthen local capacity. Whether you’re working directly with children or supporting our team behind the scenes, you’ll become part of an organisation committed to creating lasting change.
Every volunteer placement is different. We’ll work with you to match your skills, experience and interests with the areas where you can make the greatest contribution.
Professional Skills
Share your expertise in areas such as education, healthcare, fundraising, marketing, communications and many other professional fields.
Work With Children
Support learning through sport, creative arts, music, English or other languages, career guidance, life skills and confidence-building activities.
Volunteer Remotely
Use your professional skills from anywhere in the world to help strengthen our programmes and organisation.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds.
Whether you’re a teacher, doctor, social worker, designer, marketer, engineer, business professional or student, your skills and experience could help create new opportunities for children and families.
Above all, we’re looking for people who are:
- eager to share their skills and learn from others
- respectful of different cultures
- adaptable and open-minded
- committed to child safeguarding
- willing to work alongside local communities
Volunteering With Purpose
We believe the most meaningful volunteering strengthens local expertise rather than replacing it.
Our volunteers work alongside our Nepal team, sharing knowledge, building confidence and supporting long-term development while local staff continue to lead programme delivery.
We do not charge any fees to volunteer with Our Sansar, nor do we offer paid volunteer positions. If you’re joining us in Nepal, we’ll provide accommodation, meals and ongoing support from our welcoming local team throughout your stay. Volunteers are responsible for arranging and covering the cost of their own travel to Nepal.
What You’ll Gain
Volunteering is a two-way experience.
Alongside contributing your skills and experience, you’ll gain:
- a deeper understanding of Nepal and its culture
- experience working alongside local communities
- lifelong friendships
- the opportunity to witness lasting social change first-hand
- new perspectives that stay with you long after you return home
- the satisfaction of knowing you’ve become part of Our Sansar’s story
