Every day, children across Madhesh Pradesh are forced to survive without the safety, care and opportunities every child deserves. Some sleep on the streets. Others spend their days working, begging or searching for food. Many have escaped violence at home, while others have become separated from their families through poverty, migration or neglect.
Life on the streets exposes children to exploitation, trafficking, substance abuse, violence and chronic hunger. Many become trapped in a cycle that becomes harder to escape with every passing year.
Children don’t end up on the streets overnight. Poverty, violence, neglect, family breakdown and exploitation push them there. Our Street Children Programme provides protection, stability and the opportunity to build a different future.
Every Child’s Journey is Different
Our Street Children Programme responds before children become invisible. Working alongside local communities, schools, police, child protection authorities and government agencies, we identify children at risk and provide the support they need at every stage of their journey.
Whether a child needs emergency protection, family reintegration, temporary care or a long-term home, our response is built around what is best for that individual child.
Our approach
We don’t focus on just one service. Our goal is to provide children with all the necessary tools for their bright futures. These tools can be different for each child and depend on individual circumstances.
- Outreach and identification of children needing support
- Emergency response through our Child Helpline
- Safe temporary accommodation
- Residential care when children cannot safely return home
- Education and school enrolment
- Counselling and healthcare
- Family tracing and reintegration where possible
- Life skills, vocational training and preparation for independent adulthood
Every child follows a different journey, but every child deserves the same opportunity—to grow up safe, supported and full of hope.
